We’ve finally found a place to resume Level 1 and Level 2 classes.

New 6 week session begins Thursday, September 16th, 2010

Level 1 - 6:45 - 7:45

$70 for 6 week session. Pre-registration required.

Level 2 - 8:00 - 9:00

$70 for 6 week session or $115 for Level 1 and Level 2 six week sessions. Pre-registration required.

Important news about Devyani Dance Center

On July 27th we were forced to close the doors on Devyani Dance Center due to another flooding incident. This time it was due to a burst pipe. We are currently looking for rental space and will let you all know ASAP when we have a new location and schedule for classes.

Thank you all for your support of the studio over the last 6 years. It has definitely been a home for our students and friends and we take comfort in knowing that we will still have the connection with all of you regardless of where our activities take place.

Helm workshops April 17th in Birmingham, AL

We are so excited to be hosting 2 workshops with Mark and Ling Shien Bell of Helm.

April 17th
Drumming with Mark Bell
3 hour mixed level workshop focusing on technique and songs by Helm.
9:00am - 12:00pm
$50 (After April 1st, $55)

Finger Cymbals with Ling Shien Bell
3 hour workshop focusing on finger cymbal patterns for some of the most commonly used middle eastern rhythms. This class will also include an Egyptian Folkloric choreography to one of our favorite Helm songs, Hosanni Oo.
1:00 - 4:00pm
$50 - (After April 1st, $55)

Dance Across Birmingham and “Body Wave” Workshop

Join us for free ATS classes at the Alabama Dance Festival’s “Dance Across Birmingham” event on January 16th. Today is the day! Our 5th Annual Holiday Hafla at Devyani Dance Center starts tonight at 7:00 pm. We have 10, yes TEN, different performances for you tonight including ATS, Tribal Fusion, Cabaret, Carbaret Fusion, Modern African and Ballet! And then we’ll dance and party to live music until everyone is ready to go home.

Bring a Friend to Class Week at Magic City Ballet

This week is Bring a Friend to Class Week at Magic City Ballet.

For every friend you bring to try our classes during Bring a Friend to Class Week, you get a free class for yourself.
Bring as many friends as you like!

If your friends want to try a different class than the one you take, you can send or bring them to the right class for them and still get your free class. Here’s the weekly schedule:
Creative Movement Ages 4-8 Wednesdays               4:15-5:00 p.m.

Adult Creative Movement Fridays                       9:15-10:30 a.m.

Beginning Ballet Ages 8+ Mondays                    3:45-4:45 p.m.

Beginning Adult Ballet Wednesdays               7:00-8:15 p.m.

Intermediate Ballet Tues./Thursdays        4:45-6:15 p.m.

Performing Company Mondays                    4:45-6:00 p.m. (free to all interested enrolled ballet students)
